Founded in 2019, the Research on Research Institute (RoRI) is an international collaboration dedicated to transforming research systems and cultures. This report marks the midpoint of RoRI’s second phase (2023–2027), following a successful pilot phase and transition to a new home at UCL.

RoRI now works with over 30 public funders and foundations across 15 countries, collectively responsible for around US$30 billion in annual R&D investment. With a growing team and active projects spanning topics like research assessment, narrative CVs, AI in funding, and transdisciplinary support, RoRI is helping shape the future of how research is governed and evaluated.

This report reflects on our progress so far, outlines our current projects, and looks ahead to new opportunities, including Metascience 2025, the largest global gathering of the metascience community to date.
